22.8% of School Restrooms in Vietnam Remain Degraded: MoET’s Agency

The rate of degraded school restrooms in Vietnam has remained at 22.8%, mostly at kindergartens and general schools, according to the Physical Education Department, under the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET), local media reported. Additionally, the ratio of restrooms with adequate clean water and hand soap is only about 65.6%, the ratio of schools with enough drinking water is about 62.8%. In the academic year of 2018-2019, there were about 60,000 school sanitation works of all kinds added. Mr. Pham Hung Anh, director of Educational facilities, Equipment and Children’s toy Department, under MoET, said that the ministry is urging localities to fix this problem. Besides, he noted a difficulty that many localities do not have the spare budget for this issue. (Giao Duc Thoi Dai, Dan Tri, Lao Dong, Lao Dong)
