ACIAR to Fund $8M to 8 New Agricultural Projects in Vietnam in 2024-2027

The Australian Center for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) will finance eight new agricultural projects in Vietnam in 2024-2027, with a total funding of over $8 million, local media reported.

The information was announced at the ACIAR-Vietnam Partnership Dialogue 2024 in Hanoi earlier this week, on the occasion of ACIAR CEO Wendy Umberger’s first trip to Vietnam.

The projects include (i) a $2.5 million project to solve hitches in grouper value chain in Vietnam and Australia in 2024-2027, (ii) a $500,000 project to assess priorities of citrus tree development in 2024-2025, (iii) a $2.1 million project to apply digitalization in VietGAP compliance in fruit value chain in 2024-2027, and (iv) a $500,000 project to diversify livelihoods with local crops in the northwest region in 2024-2025.

The others are (v) a $471,200 project to converse mangrove forests in the Mekong Delta in 2024-2025, (vi) a $500,000 project to survey land in the Central Highlands in 2024-2025, (vii) a $330,000 project to find out roles of remote sensor in water management in 2024-2025, and (viii) a $1.5 million project to build a roadmap for future farmers in Vietnam and Laos in 2024-2027.

In 2018-2025, ACIAR has been supporting 23 projects in Vietnam and regional projects with Vietnam’s participation.

Since 1993, ACIAR has funded $184 million for 260 projects in Vietnam and regional projects involving Vietnam.
