ADB to Grant $100M to Infrastructure Projects in Five Vietnam Provinces

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has pledged to grant $100 million to road and bridge construction projects in five provinces of Binh Phuoc, Dak Nong, Dak Lak, Gia Lai and Kon Tum in Vietnam. A representative of the bank made the commitment at a meeting with officials from Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment in Binh Phuoc on Aug. 21. The projects aim to provide an efficient, safe and reliable road system for ethnic minority groups and poor communities in the five provinces. These projects will be implemented in early 2016. The ADB has also agreed to provide $900,000 to the five provinces next year to make detailed plans for the project. The lender has to date pledged $3.56 billion for 12 transport projects in Vietnam but the disbursement accounted for just 28% of the funding.
