ADB Wants to Enhance Support for Vietnam’s Private Sector: Official

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has set a priority to step up assistance for Vietnam’s private sector and public-private partnership (PPP) programs and projects, Vice Chairman of the ADB Ashok Lavasa said at a meeting with Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Finance Vo Thanh Hung on March 9.

Investment in the private sector will promote Vietnam’s socio-economic development, he said, adding that the ADB will continue following its commitments to support the Vietnamese government via its national partnership strategy.

Earlier, Mr. Hung thanked ADB for providing technical support, financial resources, and consultancy in policymaking and improving the institutions. He stressed that the Vietnamese government aims to better the institutions, including policies to attract more private capital into the country’s infrastructure development.

Besides, the Ministry of Finance has cooperated with the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), the country’s Central Bank, and relevant agencies to handle issues regarding ADB’s investment in Vietnam’s private sector and tax exemption for private projects receiving lending from the ADB. (TBTCVN)
