Agricultural Ministry to Launch Flood-proof House Systems in Central Vietnam

The Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) will propose the government invest in building the systems of flood-proof houses in the storm-hit central region, the state-run newswire Nong Nghiep Vietnam (Vietnam Agriculture) reported. Accordingly, the MARD will invest in the systems of evacuation houses and flood-resistant houses based on the standards of each region. The ministry will also work with related agencies and localities to restore the infrastructures associated with sustainable development to resist storms and floods. It was also trying to restore the clean water systems for public constructions and the residents while guiding the people to treat water by using purification chemicals. Regarding the long-term mission of providing clean water, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) is deploying the aid worth of $3 million and official development assistance (ODA) aid package for restoring infrastructure and production in Vietnam’s storm-hit region worth $250 million in 30 years, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Hoang Hiep said. If the government approves, the project with ADB fund will be immediately conducted to recover infrastructure, including transport infrastructure, irrigation, agriculture, focus on sustainable development.
