AIDS Healthcare Foundation Supports Patients in Vietnam Ha Tinh

The Health Department in Vietnam’s central province of Ha Tinh on July 22 launched a project on HIV/AIDS treatment, which is funded by the United States’ AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), local media reported. Ha Tinh has become the 17th locality in Vietnam receiving support from the AHF for such projects. They aim to support those at high risk of being infected with HIV such as drug addicts, prostitutes, and same-sex people. The fund depends on localities’ demand for HIV/AIDS treatment annually. The project in Ha Tinh targets to support HIV testing for around 5,000 people at community and in prisons in 2019, provide the provincial disease control center and Xuan Hoa prison with some equipment, and improve qualifications for medical staff. According to Ha Tinh’s disease control center, the province had 1,814 HIV carriers in all 13 districts/cities/towns as of the end of June 2019. (Vietnam Panorama, baohatinh)
