AIIB to Provide $5B at Preferential Rates for Vietnam's Infras Projects

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Jin Liqun on July 16, where AIIB committed $5 billion at preferential rates to support Vietnam's infrastructure projects, local media reported.

During the meeting, President Jin Liqun praised Vietnam's economic growth and development, particularly in the context of global challenges. He also expressed appreciation for the Prime Minister's speech at the recent World Economic Forum in Dalian, highlighting its relevance.

Prime Minister Chinh emphasized the importance of the partnership with AIIB and outlined Vietnam's strategic directions and opportunities. He requested AIIB's support for transformative infrastructure projects, including the North-South high-speed railway, urban railway lines in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and railways connecting with China and those through China to Europe and Central Asia.

President Jin Liqun agreed with the Prime Minister's cooperation directions, focusing on high-impact projects with efficient procedures.
