American Veterans Visit Vietnam’s Central City to Boost Ties

A delegation of Chapter 60 of the U.S. Veterans For Peace (VFP) is visiting Vietnam’s central city of Danang in a bid to enhance bilateral cooperation, state media has reported. The delegation, led by Searcy Charles Mathes, was received by Huynh Duc Truong, head of the Danang Union of Friendship Association on March 24. During the meeting, Mr. Truong suggested American veterans continue its calling the U.S. government, organizations and individuals to provide support for Vietnam in general and Danang in particular to deal with war consequences, including environmental pollution and Agent Orange. In turn, Mr. Mathes said his delegation visit aims to promote reconciliation between the two former enemies and support Vietnam to address war consequences, especially in mine eradication and Agent Orange issues.
