Australia to Hand Over ARV Drugs to Vietnam's Health Ministry on Jun 20
Australia, in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO), will hand over ARV drugs to the Vietnam Ministry of Health on June 20, addressing significant challenges in purchasing the HIV treatment drugs.
The ARV drugs, including the first-line treatment Acriptega, will be provided as a non-project grant by WHO. Codupha Central Pharmaceutical JSC will distribute the drugs across Ben Tre, Can Tho, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Thanh Hoa. This initiative aims to ensure uninterrupted treatment for HIV patients.
The Vietnam Administration for HIV/AIDS Control (VAAC) will oversee the proper and safe use of the drugs, ensuring they reach the intended recipients without overlap.
The Ministry of Health is also advancing ARV procurement through health insurance funds, expecting 14.5 million ARV tablets to be delivered between June and August.
The remaining ARV drugs will be centrally procured to maintain continuous treatment for HIV patients nationwide, ensuring no interruptions in their medication regimen.
