Belgium to Grant EUR6.2M to Enhance Manpower Quality in Vietnam

Belgium has pledged to provide more than EUR6.21 million of non-refundable ODA to support Vietnam in improving the quality of human resources. The project, to be carried out in four and a half years, aims to contribute to Vietnam’s sustainable development and growth by facilitating Vietnam to become a knowledge-based industrialized country by 2020. The project following an agreement signed between Deputy Head of the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) Bui Van Ga and Belgian Ambassador to Vietnam last week will focus on strengthening the innovative and management skills and capabilities of Vietnamese individuals and targeted institutions. Belgium has so far funded many projects to help Vietnam improve its manpower quality to increase its labor productivity, which is lower than that of Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia by as much as 50.4 times, 18.6, 7.8, 1.96 and 1.5 times, respectively.
