Cervical Cancer Checks Begin in Vietnam Poor Provinces

A cervical cancer screening program will be provided to 2.5-3 million women in five provinces of Phu Yen, Thanh Hoa, Yen Bai, Nghe An and Thai Binh, where 17%-36% of the population lives below the poverty line. Cervical cancer claims the lives of 5,000 women in Vietnam annually. The $6.9 million project is the second phase of a co-operation program implemented by the German Development Co-operation (GIZ) and the Ministry of Health's Administration for Medical Services.
