Drug Addiction Growingly Common among Vietnamese Youngsters: Deputy PM

As many as 90% of new addicts in some localities of Vietnam do synthetic drugs, and more and more young adults are getting hooked on addictive drugs, warned Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam. Mr. Dam made the statement at a signing ceremony of the cooperation program between the National Committee for AIDS, Drugs and Prostitution Prevention and Control and the Supreme People's Court for the 2020 - 2025 period. The event took place in the capital city of Hanoi on July 14. Vietnam still has 200,000 people infected with HIV/AIDS despite the country’s relatively good control of the disease situation, added the Deputy Prime Minister. Vietnam has helped drug users, drug addicts, sex workers, and HIV/AIDS-infected people as victims and patients, simultaneously ensured the life of other people away from the risk of infection.
