EuroCham to Support Vietnam’s Green Transition in Renewable Energy, Finance
The European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) has committed to supporting Vietnam’s efforts to accelerate its green economic transition, particularly in renewable energy, green transportation, and green finance, as discussed during the Vietnam-EU National Forum held in Ho Chi Minh City on August 21.
Mr. Jean Jacques Buouflet, vice president of EuroCham, emphasized the importance of developing legal frameworks and mobilizing resources for Vietnam’s green economy. He stressed the need to leverage international expertise to ensure the country remains on track toward its green transition goals.
Vietnam has made significant strides in its green economy, with a policy framework in place and commitments to net-zero emissions by 2050. Vietnam has also seen positive movements in this area, with the green economy growing as a proportion of the national economy, moving toward sustainable development.
However, challenges remain, such as the lack of specific regulations for sectors and financing of green growth.
VCCI Vice President Vo Tan Thanh highlighted the importance of EU support in developing green policies. He called for increased EU support in areas such as infrastructure, human resources, technical assistance, and technology transfer, helping Vietnam adopt international standards.
Vietnam also hopes for increased access to a broader range of EU partners and market information beyond traditional partners like Northern, Western, and Eastern Europe.
VCCI pledged to serve as a bridge between Vietnamese and EU businesses, facilitating successful cooperation and investment to strengthen Vietnam-EU relations.
