Expert Forecasts Major Effects on Vietnam’s Education in 2024
Dr. Dam Quang Minh, vice president of EQuest Education Group, shared his forecast about the major effects on Vietnam’s education in 2024, state newswire Dai Bieu Nhan Dan (People’s Representatives) reported.
Mr. Minh predicts a decline in schools’ competitiveness for student enrollment this year, attributed to the high rate of the tuition ceiling for public universities and the high tuition fees charged by financially autonomous universities.
He added that more and more youngsters will choose labor export, vocational training, and working in new industrial zones instead of participating in higher education.
The majors of pedagogy, health care, and basic sciences will continue to record a significant decline in the future, Mr. Minh said, adding that the number of pedagogical students decreased by nearly half from 151,000 to 89,000 training scale after the two years of the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, students will pay attention to fields that are easy to find a job after graduating, such as technology or business, he noted.
The expert forecasts that a larger number of Vietnamese students will choose to study abroad because of the better quality, as well as international universities are actively enrolling foreign students, including Vietnamese.
Besides, schools in Vietnam will strengthen the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in education, which will support teachers greatly, Dr. Minh said.
