Firms of Vietnam, S. Korea to Build $250M Cancer, Infertility Hospital in Danang

Vietnam’s Vicoland Group., JSC and South Korea’s Cha Bio Group will join hands in building a hospital with an estimated cost of $250 million in the central city of Danang, which will specialize in treating cancer and infertility, the national broadcaster Vietnam Television (VTV) reported. The two sides inked a memorandum of understanding for the project recently. The hospital is designed to have 1,000 beds. Besides, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) and Eva Care International Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company have signed an agreement to supply nature-origin pharmaceutical products for the hospital. The World Health Organization had placed Vietnam at 78th out of 172 countries and territories in the number of cancer patients worldwide in 2018. The country annually records 164,000 new cancer cases with 114,000 fatalities. Meanwhile, the infertility rate in Vietnam is at about 8%, or about one million couples, according to the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology. (VTV, InfoNet, Tien Phong)
