France Seeks New Cooperation Agreement on Education with Vietnam

The French Government is willing to soon sign a new deal on education and training cooperation with the Vietnamese side, said French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet.

Meeting with Vietnamese Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son in Hanoi on December 21, the diplomat affirmed that the education and training collaboration between France and Vietnam has developed enormously as thousands of Vietnamese students arrive in France to study.

He suggested both sides continue promoting French teaching in Vietnam, enhance coordination in licensing of jointly organizing French language exams for DELF and DALF certifications, and boost exchanges between schools, teachers, and students of the two countries.

Agreeing with the ambassador’s proposals, Minister Son shared that Vietnam wished to receive France’s support in transferring learning materials systems and textbooks, boosting training for Vietnamese teachers, and sending volunteer teachers to teach French in Vietnam.

He also proposed the French side increase the number of scholarships for Vietnamese students, especially in the fields that are France’s strengths, such as technology, medicine, law, and social sciences and humanities.
