Friends of Project RENEW Directors, RENEW Team Chart Path Forward for Its Mission in Vietnam

On their visit to Project RENEW, the Friends of Project RENEW (FPR) Board of Directors met with Quang Tri Province Department of Foreign Affairs officials on Thursday. FPR President Robert Frank thanked Deputy Director Nguyen Van Bien for the department’s longstanding support of Project RENEW. He pledged the board’s dedication to securing more resources to keep Quang Tri safe from the impact bombs and landmines.

Deputy Director Bien expressed his appreciation for the dedication of the Board of Directors who have been long-time supporters of RENEW. He requested that FPR help secure funds to maintain RENEW’s well-established risk education and victim assistance programs, which have been in place since its inception, along with the UXO clearance program currently funded by the U.S. government through NPA Vietnam.

Following this meeting, the FPR Board met with Project RENEW’s management team. The meeting was aimed to review progress, discuss a strategic plan to maintain Project RENEW’s comprehensive mine action approach in Quang Tri, and explore opportunities for expanding risk education and victim assistance programs to underserved areas in Quang Ngai and Quang Binh provinces.

The Project RENEW management team thanks the Board of Directors of Friends of Project RENEW for their ongoing support in advancing our mission in Vietnam.
