Germany Ministry Funds Forest Biodiversity Proj in Vietnam Thua Thien-Hue

The German Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety will fund over EUR1.8 million ($1.12 million) for the second phase of the carbon and biodiversity (Carbi) project in Vietnam’s central province of Thua Thien-Hue, according to a freshly-issued decision by the provincial People’s Committee. The project will be carried out in the mountainous districts of Nam Dong and A Luoi from 2019 to 2024, with the aim of supporting biodiversity of forest ecosystem in the areas near central Truong Son Mountain Range. It will also support the tracking of illegal trade of products with wild animal origins and enforcement of wildlife animal protection laws. Earlier, the Germany ministry granted Thua Thien-Hue EUR2 million for the first phase of the project in 2011-2014 at Sao La Nature Reserve and expanded area of Bach Ma National Park.
