Hanoi Begins Building High-tech Medical Center in Saint Paul Hospital

Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi has started construction of a medical high-tech center that specializes in endoscopic surgery and digestion treatment at the Saint Paul General Hospital, state media reported. The center, which covers an area of 2,800 square meters, will have 10 consulting rooms, 15 patient rooms, four endoscopic diagnostic rooms and three surgery rooms. It will be equipped with modern medical facilities, such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and CT scanner systems for early detection of cancers related to the digestive system, such as stomach and rectum cancers. The center will be built following European standards and will become the country’s leading endoscopic surgery facility that satisfies the increasing demand for examination and treatment of people in Hanoi, said Nguyen Khac Hien, the city’s health department director, adding that it will provide training in endoscopy skills to the city’s doctors who will be trained in advanced techniques by international experts. With an investment of VND150 billion ($6.7 million) by the Hanoi People’s Committee, the center will be managed by the Saint Paul General Hospital after construction is completed by the end of this year.
