Hanoi to Build Water Plant Using Red River Resource

Authorities in Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi have decided to build a water treatment plant using the input from the Red River to meet the local demand. Designed to have the capacity of 300,000 cubic meters of water daily, the Red River Water Plant will supply water to people in the north and west of Hanoi, state media reported, giving no investment capital for the project. It is also unclear when the construction will be kicked off. Quality of running water in big cities remains a matter of concern, causing risks to health of millions of people. Some water supply plants are found to be contaminated with arsenics. A large number of Hanoi’s people are using water sourced from the Da river, a branch originated from China. (Bizlive.vn Nov 27)
