Hanoi Warned of Children Encephalitis Outbreak During Hot Weather

The Vietnamese Ministry of Health (MoH) has warned of the encephalitis outbreak in children during the hot weather, the An Ninh Thu Do newspaper reported on May 28. Bach Mai Hospital is taking care of over ten patients with encephalitis while National Hospital of Pediatrics just admitted one with Japanese encephalitis from Bac Giang province. The MoH warned of summer as the encephalitis outbreak season, especially during the hot weather recently. Children who got hospitalized often had unclear signs of diseases such as fever and headache that can be attributed to the sick from hot weather. Doctors also suggested that parents take care of their children by careful usage of air conditioner and hydration. Since the beginning of this year, the country has recorded six deaths from 300 encephalitis cases, up 100% cases on year.
