HCM City Records Nine Deaths from Dengue Fever

Ho Chi Minh City recorded nine deaths, including two children, caused by dengue fever in the first nine months of this year. The municipal Centre for Disease Control said on October 8 that in September alone, the city recorded 8,128 cases of dengue fever, and most cases of fatalities had been hospitalized late. The centre has called for more efforts from families and agencies to fight the disease. The centre also revealed that from January-September, HCM City witnessed a total of 14,990 hand-foot-mouth cases, with no deaths reported. The number was 6,573 in September, doubling that in the previous month. The municipal Preventive Medicine Centre advised locals to apply measures to prevent dengue fever and hand-foot-mouth disease, including killing mosquitoes and washing hands regularly. (VOV)
