Ho Chi Minh City Reports Nearly 14,700 Cases of Dengue Fever So Far

Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City reports nearly 14,700 people infected with dengue fever since the beginning of this year, up 16% compared to the same period last year. Off the number, there people died because of the fever. Currently, there are around 550 cases per week, according to the city’s Health Department. Dengue fever is an infectious disease transmitted by the bite of an Aedes mosquito that has been infected with the dengue virus, with symptoms including high fever (39 degrees Celsius or higher), headaches, muscle and joint pains, and a skin rash similar in characteristics to measles, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
