IFAD to Finance $126M for Vietnam’s Agro Sector in 2019-2025

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) will finance Vietnam a total of $126 million in the 2019-2025 period, under the Country Strategic Opportunities Program (COSOP), state media reported. The figure will include $42 million in 2019-2021 and $84 million in 2022-2025. The program aims to (i) build stable value chains for the poor and attract more investment from the private sector, (ii) enhance and expand financial inclusion for climate resilient livelihoods, and (iii) foster the environmental sustainability and climate change resilience of smallholder economic activities. Vietnam became a member of the IFAD in 1977. So far, IFAD has financed $320 million for 15 projects/programs in Vietnam’s localities namely Cao Bang, Bak Kan, Tuyen Quang, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Ninh Thuan, Gia Lai, Dak Nong, Tra Vinh, and Ben Tre.
