IFAD Supports Rural Development in Vietnam: Deputy Minister

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) has supported Vietnam in rural development, especially in underprivileged areas, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam said. Deputy Minister Nam made the statement at the Mekong Hub Knowledge and Learning Fair (MKLF) being hosted by the IFAD in Bangkok, Thailand on July 10-12. Mr. Nam specified that the fund has supported projects in poor communes and districts of 11 provinces in Vietnam, which helped local households get livelihoods, boost production in value chains, and contribute to agricultural restructuring. Vietnamese representatives are displaying organic agricultural products from projects funded by the IFAD and introducing two effective models on linking farmer households and private firms in safe agro chains. The MKLF 2019, with a focus on links between farmers and enterprises, aims to share experience and knowledge from IFAD-funded projects. The fair has the participation of over 150 delegates from six countries namely Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, and the Philippines. (Bo Nong Nghiep & Phat Trien Nong Thon, mard)
