Japan has committed JPY18.9 billion, or nearly VND31 trillion, of official development assistance (ODA) for Vietnam in the fiscal year 2022, from April 2022 to March 2023, said Chief Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) - Vietnam Office Sugano Yuichi.

He made the statement at the midterm press conference for the fiscal year 2023 in Hanoi on October 18.

The ODA for technical projects amounted to JPY4.7 billion, and the ODA for non-refundable projects totaled JPY700 million.

In the fiscal year 2023, JICA and Vietnam signed ODA agreements for three projects with a total value of over JPY60 billion. They are the project on improving public transport infrastructure in Binh Duong province and the project on enhancing the agricultural supply chain in Lam Dong province. The remaining project aims to boost post-COVID-19 socio-economic recovery and development.
