Japan Funds $73M for Vietnam Hydropower Project

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has signed a deal with the Vietnamese government to fund JPY7.5 billion ($73 million) for a hydropower project in the central province of Binh Thuan. The amount is aimed at raising capacity of the 160-MW Da Nhim plant, which was built between 1959 and 1964 under the support from the Japanese government. To date, the power facility has provided 59 billion kWh of electricity to the national grid.
