Japan to Grant $214,000 to Vietnam Education Projects in 2015

The government of Japan has pledged to provide $214,000 in non-refundable for two education projects in Vietnam next year. The first project aims to increase the capacity of natural calamity mitigation education in the central province of Quang Nam, while the second will focus on improving the quality of primary education for ethnic minorities in Ha Giang, Quang Binh and Quang Ngai provinces. SEEDS Asia, a non-profit organization in Japan, will carry out the first project, while Plan Japan will conduct the second one. As one of the largest providers of official development assistance (ODA) for Vietnam’s education sector, Japan had helped build hundreds of primary schools in 17 Vietnamese provinces in flood-prone areas and mountainous northern provinces.
