Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), a governmental organization promoting the research and development of industrial technology, has granted $3.2 million to help farmers in Vietnam’s central province of Quang Tri improve offshore fishing, state media has reported. With the grant and additional contribution of $200,000 from fishermen and the province, Quang Tri will implement a $3.4 million project which aims to assist fishermen in Vinh Linh, Gio Linh and Trieu Phong in catching fish with LED lamps. According to the project, 1,800 LED-lamps will be installed on 30 fishing boats for offshore works, with price of VND1.2 million ($52.6) each lamp.
