Japan to Help Vietnam Train High-quality Manpower: Special Advisor

Japan will provide Vietnam with high-quality human resources training, with a focus on the establishment of the Japan–Vietnam University, said Special Advisor to the Japan–Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance Takebe Tsutomu. At the meeting with President of the Vietnam–Japan Friendship Parliamentary Alliance To Huy Rua in Hanoi on Nov 14, Mr. Tsutomu pledged to do his best to develop the bilateral ties in his new position. Mr. Rua, who is also a Politburo member and Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, said that manpower training is one of the important fields of cooperation between both countries. The CPV official also hoped that Japan will continue to assist Vietnam in perfecting its market economy regulations and infrastructure development. While Vietnam is having a surplus of unskilled workers and shortage of skilled ones, the demand for well-trained workforce among foreign firms, including those from Japan, has increased significantly. Japan has taken the lead in investment in Vietnam over the past five years, making the biggest contribution to the latter’s electricity and nuclear power development. Total foreign direct investment (FDI) of Japanese companies in the Southeast Asian nation is expected to rise to $45 billion-$50 billion by 2015 from the current $33.42 billion.
