Luxembourg Pledges EUR8M for Climate Change Response in Central Vietnam

The government of Luxembourg has pledged to provide the central region of Vietnam with EUR8 million for a project on dealing with climate change impacts in the 2013-2017 period, said Hoang Ngoc Khanh, head of the provincial People’s Committee. The project totaling EUR10 million aims to improve the sustainable use of natural resources and raise people’s capacity in climate change response in the coastal districts of Quang Dien, Phu Vang and Phu Loc. Since 1988, Luxembourg has provided non-refundable aid to the province to help reduce poverty in these areas. It also granted EUR1 million worth of medical equipment to Hue Central Hospital and Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy and EUR4.75 million to a rural development project.
