Military Unit Provides Free Health Check-ups for Ethnic Minority People
Defense-Economic Unit 79 under Army Corps 15, on October 25, worked with the Health Center in Le Thuy district, Quang Binh province to disseminate laws and provide free health check-ups for Bru-Van Kieu ethnic minority group in Khe Giua hamlet, Ngan Thuy commune.
Accordingly, troops from Defense-Economic Unit 79 and doctors from Le Thuy district’s Health Center raised local people’s awareness of the ordinance on population and family planning, Law on Marriage and Family; and provided free health check-ups, medicines and health consultation for nearly 500 residents. The total cost of the program was more than VND80 million.
Colonel Nguyen Thanh Chung, Political Commissar of Defense-Economic Unit 79, shared that the program showed responsibility and sentiment of the unit and Le Thuy district’s Health Center towards local people in Khe Giua hamlet, helping them learn more about laws and how to take care of their health.
Over the past time, Defense-Economic Unit 79 has launched a number of social welfare projects to further improve locals’ life.
In details, the unit has built two kindergartens, two lighting systems on a total road length of over 30km, and concrete roads, to name but a few. The unit has also granted 96 breeding cows to poor families. (Qdnd)
