Ministry Establishes Inspection Teams to Check National Hospitals

Vietnam’s Ministry of Health has recently established five inspectorates to check 37 national hospitals to evaluate their quality and services, state media reported. Inspectors will focus on checking doctors’ skill and treatment services. Evaluation of service quality is taken as a basis to improve hospitals’ quality and ranking. Ranking will be done follow the ministry’s guideline, which just asks hospital to make improvement to satisfy patients’ demand, said Luong Ngoc Khue, head of the Medical Examination and Treatment Department. Previously, 1,300 medical facilities nationwide were ranked by themselves since 2013 to January 31, 2016 under standards set by the Ministry of Health. Accordingly, national hospitals gained 3.5 points, province hospitals gained 2.8 point, and district hospitals gained 2.6 points. Private hospitals have average points of 2.9.
