More Than 15,000 Report Minor Effects after Vaccination

More than 15,000 of 20 million children were reported to have suffered minor side effects after being injected with the measles – rubella vaccine from late 2014 to May 2015. The children, ages 1 to 14, reported side effects, including fever and headaches, said officials. Information about side effects was released by the General Department of Preventive Medicine, Ministry of Health, on Sunday. Tran Dac Phu, Director of General Department of Preventive Medicine, Ministry of Health, said the vaccination process correctly followed normal standards for vaccinating children. Additionally, eight children suffered serious reactions, including convulsions and anaphylaxis shock. However, this was a small number, compared to 20 million children being injected with measles vaccine, Phu said. The cases of children suffering serious side effects were treated and the patients fully recovered, said officials. (Vietnam News July 27)
