More Cases of Measles Reported Nationwide

Hanoi Health Department has reported that about 2,000 cases of measles – including two deaths – have been recorded nationwide so far this year. Since the beginning of this year, Hanoi has recorded 805 cases of measles. Last week, the capital city recorded 89 cases of this disease. The areas with a high number of cases include Hoang Mai, Tu Liem, Thanh Xuan, HA Dong, Thanh Tri, and Dong Da districts. The disease is also on the rise in HCM City with 181 new cases reported last week. Measles cases were discovered in all 24 districts with the majority of cases recorded in Binh Thanh, Thu Duc, and Binh Chanh districts. The outbreak is predicted to continue because many children have not received vaccines, according to the health department. The department warned that people should be more active in getting vaccinations. (Vietnam News Apr 17)
