National Program Launched to Give Free Social Insurance Books, Health Insurance Cards to the Poor

The Vietnam Social Insurance on November 23 held a virtual ceremony to launch a national program to give free social insurance books and health insurance cards to people in difficult circumstances across the country. Participants from 63 Vietnamese localities joined this online event. Mr. Dinh Van Hiep, the Director of the Danang Department of Social Insurance presided over Danang broadcasting bridge point.

In his remarks at the online ceremony, Mr .Nguyen The Manh, the Director General of the Vietnam Social Insurance said that the program aims to help people in difficult circumstances nationwide enjoy benefits from social insurance and health insurance policies of Vietnam’s national government, and to mobilize cash donations from all employees of Vietnam’s social insurance sector to support the needy.

Mr. Manh also highlighted the need to mobilize the resources from individuals, organizations and businesses to support disadvantaged people with no social and health insurance in efforts to spread the humanity and increase poor people's access to the national government’s social insurance and health insurance policies.

To mark this occasion, the Danang Department of Social Insurance gave 10 social insurance books and 20 health insurance cards to local poor people.

The national program is funded by donations from employees of Vietnam’s social insurance sector, individuals, organizations, and businesses across the country.

The Vietnam Social Insurance plans to give 10,000 social insurance books and 120,000 health insurance cards to people in difficult circumstances throughout the country. Besides, a total of 200 gifts valued at VND1 million each will be presented to patients who are under treatment at 10 hospitals based in Hanoi with the aim of bringing them a warm Tet on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet) 2023.
