Nearly 1.7M Vietnam Disadvantaged People Helped during Humanitarian Month 2024
More than $30 million were raised and nearly 1.7 million disadvantaged people were helped during Humanitarian Month 2024, according to the Vietnam Red Cross Society.
During the drive which ran from May 1 to May 31, 29 provinces and cities established Provincial Red Cross Activity Funds and more than 1,500 Red Cross houses were built and repaired and nearly 4,000 households received support for their livelihoods.
Humanitarian Month serves as a peak period for widespread participation in humanitarian efforts, fostering a movement of good deeds throughout society, focusing on eradicating hunger, reducing poverty, and evaluating social security.
Since its inception in 2018, Red Cross organizations at all levels have mobilized nearly $118 million and assisted more than 6 million disadvantaged people, fostering a significant movement of solidarity within the community. (VovWorld)
