Netherlands Earmarks $12.3M for Water Supply Project in South Vietnam

The Dutch government will grant VND260 billion ($12.26 million) for the construction of two water supply plants in Vietnam’s southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau. An agreement on the aid was signed by the Dutch Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City and the provincial authorities Aug 20. Under the pact, a plant with a daily capacity of 20,000cu.m will be built in Long Tan commune, Dat Do district, while the other will be located in Bong Trang commune, Xuyen Moc district with a daily capacity of 5,400cu.m. Once completed, the two plants are expected to provide clean water for 35,000 local rural households. According to Timvan Galen, Chief Advisor of the Netherlands-funded OIRO program, the project is among the seven pacts signed by ORIO in nations worldwide.
