Non-Communicable Diseases Cause 78.6% of Deaths in Vietnam: Health Ministry
Non-communicable diseases account for the highest burden of disease in Vietnam, representing 73.66% of cases and 78.6% of deaths, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health.
Starting September 28, the Vietnam Medical Association, in collaboration with VNews – the news television channel, will launch a series of online talks to raise awareness and inspire the community on the importance of health and a healthy lifestyle.
The program will feature discussions and expert insights on non-communicable and chronic diseases with guests and leading medical professionals from Vietnam.
Survey data shows that in 2021, the prevalence of hypertension among adults was 26.2%, affecting approximately 17 million people, while diabetes/high blood glucose affected 7.06% of adults, equating to 4.6 million people. In terms of cancer, an estimated 182,500 new cases were recorded in the country in 2020.
