Peace Trees Vietnam Sponsors Mine Clearance

A Peace Trees Vietnam (PTVN) delegation including 18 members, most of them American veterans, has been received by the President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), Vu Xuan Hong, in Hanoi. During the meeting on March 8, the PTVN delegates expressed their impressions about Vietnam’s current development and their concerns about efforts to address war aftermath in Vietnam. They also shared information on mobilizing sponsorships for projects undertaken by PTVN in central Vietnam since 1995. During their Vietnam visit, the PTVN delegation plans to travel to Quang Tri and meet with Vietnamese veterans in the Ta Con-Khe Sanh airfield relic area. In 2012, PTVN’s activities will focus on sponsoring humanitarian projects to clear unexploded ordnance in Quang Tri and Quang Binh provinces, expanding the scale of credit loan projects in Quang Tri, and providing scholarships for mine victims.
