PeaceTrees Vietnam Commits Over $26.3M Aid to Quang Tri by Mar 2026

PeaceTrees Vietnam, a U.S.-based organization dedicated to addressing the legacy of the U.S.-Vietnam War, has committed over $26.3 million in aid to central Quang Tri province until March 2026.

The information was announced during a meeting between the Quang Tri People’s Committee and the PeaceTrees delegation led by Executive Director Mary Claire Yunker on July 22.

During the meeting, Ms. Mary Claire Yunker emphasized PeaceTrees Vietnam’s ongoing commitment to practical cooperation with local authorities in handling war aftermaths.

For his part, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Hoang Nam highlighted the practical impacts of PeaceTrees Vietnam’s projects in Quang Tri, noting their contributions to socio-economic development and poverty reduction.

He underscored PeaceTrees Vietnam’s assistance in mine clearance, explosive ordnance disposal, mine awareness education, victim support, post-clearance development, tree planting, and fostering international friendships.

Over the past 30 years, PeaceTrees Vietnam has cleared 143,000 mines and explosive ordnances; cleaned more than 2,700 hectares of land; provided emergency support to 220 mine victims, long-term support to 62 families, and microcredit loans to 250 families, among others.
