Residents in Vietnam Hanoi’s Outskirt District Suffer Water Cuts for 10 Days

Tens of thousands of residents in the Thanh Ha urban area in Hanoi’s outskirt district of Thanh Oai have been cut off from water for ten days, local media reported.

In their complaint letters sent to relevant agencies of Hanoi, the local residents reported that Thanh Ha Fresh Water JSC, headquartered in Ha Dong district, suspended one of its two supply sources to the Thanh Ha urban area after they reported signs of contamination in the water.

The supplier currently only retains supply from Duong River Surface Waterplant JSC, resulting in a water shortage in more than ten buildings in the urban area since October 14.

Some clean water suppliers, such as Duong River Surface Waterplant JSC, Hanoi Water Limited Company, and VIWACO., JSC have distributed water source for Ha Dong Water Company to supply Thanh Ha area, but failed to serve the demand.

Party Chief of Hanoi City Dinh Tien Dung, the municipal Department of Construction, and the municipal People’s Committee, and the People’s Committee of Thanh Oai district asked Thanh Ha Fresh Water JSC to quickly supply water supply to the residents.

However, the residents have yet to access fresh water up to date.
