S.Korea KOICA Pledges $3.5M for Vietnam to Build Land Data System

The Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has pledged to provide $3.5 million in grant for Vietnam to set up a multi-purpose land data management system in two years of 2013-2014.The funding was mentioned in the agreement signed between the KOICA and the General Department of Land Administration under Vietnam’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE) on November 2.KOICA will help Vietnam integrate land data systems across the country from the central to local levels, transfer its land survey technology and offer training courses to Vietnamese technical and administrative personnel.The integration of land data will be piloted in the central city of Danang and the northern province of Bac Ninh, which are home to many foreign investment projects. The Vietnamese government is in process of building a land data system for its 63 provinces by 2020 following the South Korean model, part of its efforts to raise its land management capacity.
