Solar Power Systems Installed in 2 Schools in Vietnam’s Quang Nam

The Central Power Corporation, under state utility Vietnam Electricity (EVN), and Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on October 4 launched solar power systems for two schools in mountainous district of Tay Giang and Nam Tra My in Vietnam’s central province of Quang Nam. The two schools are Vo Chi Cong High School and Ngoc Linh Elementary Day School for Ethnic Minority. The corporation said the rooftop solar power systems, which were built at a combined cost of VND250 million ($11,000), will supply 40 kilowatts per hour each day for schools’ daily power use. The panels are expected to cut costs of Vo Chi Cong school by VND1.5 million per month, reducing the burden on students from low-income families. The corporation said that it would continue working with Tuoi Tre newspaper in bringing more solar power systems to more schools in the locality, especially those in needy districts.
