Soldiers Help Ethnic People Develop Economics

The living standards of residents in Phu Xai Lai Leng Commune, in a mountainous area in Ky Son District, Nghe An Province, have much improved compared to five years ago, thanks to various activities launched by soldiers of the Economic-Military Unit 4 and young volunteers. The Army Unit has cooperated with local authorities to upgrade infrastructure and the transportation system by connecting Communes to major roads. Soldiers and young volunteers encouraged the local people to quit nomadic practices and have taught them how to cultivate rice, corn, fruit trees, and how to protect forest and boost husbandry. As a result, local people can now produce hundreds of tons of agricultural products. Soldiers of the Unit also built a large medical centre to provide free healthcare check-ups and medicines to the local people. The soldiers have become a reliable source for local people.
