Sustainable Poverty Reduction In Central District

The 12th National Party Congress resolution identifies one of the most important tasks for social affairs as reducing the poverty rate by 1-1.5% per year, together with sustainable poverty reduction. To realize the target, Ky Son district in the central province of Nghe An is focusing on developing diverse economic development models, bringing stable income for residents for sustainable poverty reduction. Tea trees have brought better life for Vu Ba Mi’s family in Huoi Tu commune. Planting tea trees have also helped Mr. Mi and his neighbors, of the H’Mong ethnic minority group, to change ways of thinking on how to escape poverty. Besides changing structure of plantation, the application of science and technology in developing and expanding agricultural and breeding production as merchandise production. Notably is the model to raise black chicken in Huoi Tu commune. According to a breeder, the application of science and technology will help to develop, hand down and preserve the valuable and rare gene of the chicken. Being one of the 61 poorest districts of the country, Ky Son district plans to focus on boosting agricultural and forestry production by protecting and expanding afforestation in combination with developing plantation and breeding economic models, thus further increasing sustainable poverty reduction, and raising people’s spiritual and material lives.
