Switzerland ABB to Help Vietnam Danang Build Smart City by 2020

Switzerland-headquartered ABB will support Vietnam’s central city of Danang to become a smart city in 2020, according to a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed on April 10. Under the MoU, ABB will help Danang City deploy smart solutions in fields such as water management, waste treatment, database upgrade, and logistics center establishment. The Swiss firm will also help connect the city with global smart city models, with a focus on experience sharing. On the same day, the municipal People’s Committee announced that the city will spend VND2.138 trillion ($91.8 million) on its smart city scheme from now to 2025, 70% of which will come from official development assistance (ODA) and the rest from crowd funds. Danang City was one of the most worth-living destinations for expats in 2018, according to a survey conducted by Live and Invest Overseas travel magazine. The New York Times has also placed the city in the 15th position in their annual list of 52 destinations to go this year. (Thoi Bao Ngan Hang, Vietnam Finance)
