Two Huge War-Left Bombs Detonated

Two huge war-left bombs, namely MK82 and MK83, were successfully detonated by engineers on November 7. Particularly, the 450kg MK83bomb was found on October 27 in Hoa Binh hamlet, Thinh Loc commune, Loc Ha district. Earlier, flooding in the area caused erosion, and the bomb was exposed. The second bomb was MK82, 224 kg in weight. The bomb was founded by members of a UXO detection team of the Technology Centre for Bomb and Mine Disposal under the Engineering Corps on November 6 in Tan Thanh residential area in Dong Loc town of Can Loc district. The bomb was found 5m underground, and its detonator remained intact. Both MK82 and MK83 bombs were dropped by the U.S. Air Force in wartime. Having detected the bombs, the Ha Tinh provincial Military Command instructed relevant agencies to move the bombs to the Firing Range of the provincial Military Command for detonation due to the flooding situation in the locality. On November 7, Engineering Section of the Ha Tinh Provincial Military Command in coordination with Technology Centre for Bomb and Mine Disposal and the Military Command of Loc Ha district safely detonated the bombs.
