UK Pledges to Support Vietnam in Efficient Use of Renewable Energy: Ambassador

The UK pledges to assist Vietnam in achieving the goal of efficient use of renewable energy, said UK Ambassador to Vietnam Gareth Ward. Mr. Ward made the statement at the visit on August 27 to Vin University (VinUni), a university-run by Vingroup JSC (HOSE: VIC). The visit aims to discuss the potential of educational cooperation between VinUni and UK universities. During the visit, the diplomat expressed his impression on the university’s green, smart, and modern campus, especially the 1,000-square-meter rooftop solar power system equipped with 500 solar panels from the UK-headquartered UKSOL. He noted that attic solar energy systems will be essential to realize the Vietnamese government’s goal in raising the proportion of renewable energy in the current total energy supply. The ambassador affirmed that he has seen the remarkable development of the Vietnamese renewables sector during his two-year term in Vietnam. In particular, the country’s solar power capacity doubled in 2019. (Quan Doi Nhan Dan, QDND)
