UNDP Grants $2M for Social Welfare Project in Vietnam

Vietnam’s Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) has launched a project costing $2 million with a grant from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to improve social welfare for local people. The project on Reform of Social Assistance Policy System (SAP) receives $300,000 funding from the MOLISA and targets to strengthen the supporting system for local people and raise their living standards. Bakhodir Burkhanov, the UNDP’s deputy country director, said that the project is aimed at helping vulnerable people and groups, contributing to eradicate hunger and reduce poverty in the Southeast Asian country. Vietnam has roughly three million poor households.
